EggBox
The EggBox® transportation and incubation system provides a simple
and effective way to transport eyed eggs safely. The EggBox is
available in two variations, the EggBox Tube System and the EggBox
Tray System. The systems can accommodate approximately 50,000 to
80,000 Coho eyed eggs or 100,000 to 160,000 Donaldson steelhead
eyed eggs.
Constant Temperature The EggBox®, custom designed by AquaSeed®, consists of a hinged-lid chest insulated to hold eggs at a constant temperature during extended shipping periods. In a shelf life test performed by the engineering department of Igloo Corporation, AquaSeed's EggBox outperformed conventional Styrofoam shipping containers by more than fifty-percent. The Styrofoam box has an R-factor of 3.5 while the ultratherm polyurethane insulation found in the EggBox is rated at 7.5.
System AdvantagesThe EggBox® Tube System provides free circulation of oxygen and moisture while protecting the eggs during transport. Stacked in rows, the EggTubes® create large surface areas allowing for the easy exchange of gases, moisture and metabolic wastes. The eyed eggs remain undisturbed during transport. You can visually inspect the product through the perforated EggTube without touching the eggs and exposing them to hazardous elements. Each EggTube holds roughly 2,200 to 4,600 coho eggs per tube, depending on the tube size. EggTubes can also be used to transport fry or smolt. The capped tubes allow for security and open air and water flow.
